Arduino Power and Interfacing

Abstract We begin this chapter by exploring the power source requirements for an Arduino–based processing board. We examine how to properly provide power from a variety of DC and AC power sources. We then explore the operating envelop, the operating voltages and current, for Arduino processors. This information is critical in properly designing an interface to peripheral devices. The remainder of the chapter provides information on how to interface a wide variety of input and output devices to the Arduino processor. The chapter is purposely broad in scope to encompass concepts and applications from bioengineering, biomedical, and biological engineering.
